A check engine light signals that the vehicle computer detected a fault. The stored code is a starting clue, not a complete diagnosis.
When to ask about check engine light diagnosis
- A steady or flashing check engine light
- Rough idle, poor acceleration, or unusual fuel use
- An emissions test failure
How we approach it
We review the symptoms, scan for fault information, and test the system involved before recommending a repair. A flashing light can signal a more urgent condition; stop driving and call for guidance.
